AfroBasket would be held in the Ivory Coast, and the women's basketball team would not be able to train in the U.S. before that because some players and team leaders would have trouble getting passes.

On Thursday, Ousmane Sonko, president of Senegal, wrote on Facebook that the team would be meeting in Dakar, the country's capital, "in a sovereign and conducive setting."

The union for the country said in a statement that five players and seven team managers had their visa requests turned down.

She added "I have informed the Ministry of Sports to cancel the 10-day training camp that was scheduled to occur in the United States due to several members of the Senegal women's national basketball team being denied visas."

As long as Trump's rules stay in place, it will be hard for people to come to the US. At first, it wasn't clear why Senegal wasn't on the list of countries that were turned down.

You should be able to watch "any other major sporting event," like the Olympics or the World Cup. But that doesn't make sense.

Otis Hughley Jr. runs it. He has coached the basketball team for women there. He quit his job as Alabama A&M's men's coach before March.

They were going to be in the US from June 22 to July 3. In four of the last five AfroBasket games, they have been first or second. We've won eleven games. The winner can go to Germany for the FIBA World Cup after this year.
